Cruise on Holland America MS Eurodam
Hello Everyone,
I have reserved some rooms on the beautiful Holland America ship, MS Eurodam so that perhaps some of you might want to join our Walking Group as we travel around the Caribbean.
Our ship leaves Fort Lauderdale, FL on January 30, 2010 and returns on February 6 and then goes out again and returns on February 13, 2010. Yes, two 7 day cruises and you can do either or both. So far we are all doing both with the thought that what we miss the first time we will do on the second stop.
Worldwide Walking Club will get AVA sanctions for a walk in San Juan, PR that goes from the ship dock along the seawall and in one of the old gates in the huge wall. We then stop and spend some time seeing El Morro, the beautiful fort that guards the passage into the city. After that we walk to the smaller fort and then into town to do some very nice duty free shopping.
On St. Thomas, USVI, we will again get an AVA sanction for the walk. We will walk from the cruise ship dock along the waterfront passing many historic buildings. Then it is on to the 99 steps and government house with spectacular views of the harbor. After that we wind our way back down the hill to the city of Charlotte Amailie and get to do some more duty free shopping. The stores will deliver your large purchases back to the ship and there are jittneys that will take you back to the dock as well.
Our other ports are Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay and I post those another day.
